On Monday, Samuel started swim lessons. They are given through the Parks & Rec department and are for 9 days for about 30 minutes. Unfortunately on Monday, we did not get into the water. Right before our class started, someone had an accident in the pool which required the lifeguards to "shock" the pool. We were really bummed about it, but on Tuesday we got in the water. Ok, I use the word "we" loosely. Samuel and Jeff got into the water. For some reason, Sam loved to swim when he was closer to a year old, but now that he is approaching two, he has been really hesitant around the water. Honestly, it is a blessing and a curse. I do not have to worry about him vaulting for the pool and launching himself in the water, but I do have to worry if he will scream and throw a fit when we get in the water. Hence, Jeff is getting him used to swimming lessons before he goes out of town next Tuesday and it is just me and Sam. A good friend was also taking lessons and she got some great shots of Jeff and Sam on their 1st day. Here they are:

Samuel wasn't so crazy about being on his back in the water (for that matter, he really only likes to be held close in the water).

This part was by far Samuel's favorite. He loved jumping off the side of the pool into the water, turning and holding on the wall, and doing it again.
