As some of you know, we have decided to build a new house. We bought acreage (1.9) about 5 years ago in a multi-acre neighborhood. Right before we were ready to build, we decided that there was 2.7 acres in another neighborhood that we might like better. The new neighborhood also came with some pretty cool friends, pavilion, pool, and soccer fields! The week before Ike, the builder started getting the house pad ready by compacting the soil and having the piers drilled (yes, our house will sit on 25 piers). After Ike, they finished compacting, dug out the beams, put the plumbing in, and put the rebar in. On Monday of this week, they poured the slab. The builder told us that framing could start as early as Friday. To our amazement we went out to look last night (Wednesday) and they already had most of the 1st floor framed. I am shocked at how fast the framing goes up!
